Produce Your Own Amazing Comeback: An Excerpt from Dr. Brown’s New Book MAXIMIZE YOURSELF (Coming Soon)

Success is going from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.
~Winston Churchill

comeback-185Winston Churchill’s quote may seem difficult and challenging, but the reality of life is that you are going to experience failure and disappointment in your life, and how you handle it will be the difference between success or permanent failure. The person who doesn’t make mistakes is unlikely to make anything.

Every failure is not mistake and every mistake is not failure. Some mistakes are actually failed attempts to find a better way at doing something. However, with constant diligence, a way will be discovered and accomplishment will be realized.

Benjamin Franklin said, “I haven’t failed, I just had 10,000 ideas that didn’t work.”

Thomas Edison said, “Of the 200 light bulbs that didn’t work, every failure told me something that I was able to incorporate into the next attempt.”

There are no short cuts to any place worth going. There is no elevator to success; you are going to have to take the stairs. Each step gets you higher and closer to your goal. When it can’t be done, then do it. If you can’t do it, it doesn’t exist. A person does not become what they want to be without first wanting to become what they want to be. Therefore, you cannot hit your target, if you don’t know what you are aiming for. You will always fail in your attempt to be someone you are not, but you will always succeed at being yourself.

There are many parasitical obstacles and challenges looking to eat away at your confidence and self-esteem. In order to shield yourself against these mental arrows of attack, you must have a defense that is both resistant to these alluring deceptions and is prepared to defend you against these psychological assaults. These seemingly small insignificant thoughts are sometimes dismissed as harmless. To the contrary; these thoughts come with names such as: fear, discouragement, frustration, anxiety and doubt. All of these have the ability to cause the best of us to throw in the towel and admit defeat.

Stephenie Meyer, the author of the Twilight series said the inspiration for the book came to her from a dream. She finished writing her book in three months but never intended to publish it until a friend suggested she should. She wrote about 15 letters to literary agencies. Five of them didn’t reply. Nine literary agencies just flat out dismissed her book as an ordinary vampire novel. Yet, one company gave her a chance. Then eight publishers auctioned for the right to publish Twilight. She got a three book deal worth $750,000. In 2010, Forbes reported she earned $40 million. She is under 40 years old.

Temporary setbacks create opportunities for fresh commitment and renewal. We will always have seasons of struggle and testing. There are times when everything we attempt to do will seem to go all wrong. Regardless of our prayers, consecration and dedication, adversity will come. The Apostle Paul of the Bible prayed three times to God about his thorn in the flesh and God’s answer was “My grace is sufficient…” Some things are not meant for you to change, but to survive it — you out last it and you live to tell the tale. If you can’t alter it, then out live it! You can’t help at times being delayed, but faith will never be denied.
