The Balance of Success

MB Text 7-12-2015 (Balance Success)Faith is the power link to every seeable impossible desirable endeavor you may encounter. If balance is the key to life, then, faith is the power of life, and patience is the virtue of life. It is quite easy to talk about how one’s life needs balance; but how to achieve it has escaped the majority of people.

Achieving balance can be difficult because it involves knowledge, wisdom, tenacity, and action, and some people may lack adequacy in one or more of these qualities. In your Bible, the book of James says that we must not be hearers of the word only, but also doers of the word. This is where the problem comes into the equation. Most people are good at hearing to a degree, but lousy at doing. Balance, then, is formed out of sound and unbiased advice and guidance from a creditable source, and then immediately made actionable.

Faith is the power of life because it produces the ability to be tenacious. Power is power; it has no alternative to its strength and supremacy. Faith rests in its own pool of authority, and it is the force behind every movement and action. Patience is the virtue of life. It is the quality of character and the strategy to winning. Patience is needed in order to qualify the balance in one’s life, or else everything will be done in life without forethought and purpose.

Since most people are good at hearing instructions but terrible when it comes to follow through, failure is frequently inevitable. Balance is not leveling every quality off to the same degree; it is placing the importance on each quality regardless of its magnitude. When balance is achieved, it looks like the display on an equalizer component. Therefore, perfect harmony is realized because balance has been accomplished. This kind of action results not only in life becoming manageable, but also in success as being practical. There is nothing more attractive to God than a breathing faith.

Your life is at its finest when you become entrenched and completely invested in the effort but unattached from the results. I realized how difficult this can be, but it’s possible. This is the place where you are intimate with your personal power because you realize that the expedition and the exertion are important. There is a place you arrive where you must draw a line in the sand and let go of that something which has to lead you to a new position, or to a certain person loving you, or it has to lead to you making a lot of money. When your desires are discombobulated or targeted towards you feeling better about yourself, you actually become disempowered by making the goal the consummate.

I believe the goal has to do with the process itself. In reality, the end is inherited in the means. Who you are when you put forth the effort is more important than what you want to become at the end of your effort. If you are totally convinced you have nothing left in you after your effort, how can you not be content with the outcome?

Understanding the balance to success is not winning every battle or achieving every goal. It is what knowledge you are to acquire, or what skill you are to develop, or what corrections you are to make from each skirmish or attempt at something, regardless of the outcome, so that you are more prepared for the next endeavor.

Four Steps To Help You Move On When Critics Want You To Stop

criticism-postOnce you make the decision to go all out and make something happen, all the components of various materials conspire to make it happen, and every naysayer and malicious person connives to block it from happening.

Opposition usually doesn’t rear its ugly head until a person is serious about achieving the goals of their life. Have you ever noticed those you were so were true friends, remained so, until you made a decision to move your life in a positive direction which did not include them? All of a sudden your so-called-friend was trying to sabotage your success by giving you every excuse they could think of, in hopes it would influence you not to continue in your personal pursuit of living your dream. They are discouragers not encouragers. The personal interest of this type of person is not to promote someone, but rather to secretly demote them in subtle ways.

I cannot recall a time when I was the brunt of a joke, as much as when I was twenty-three years old preparing to end my time of service in the United States Army. A group of constituents and close acquaintances came together to throw a farewell celebration for me. However, it turned out to be more like a Dean Martin Celebrity Roast Night. Some cracked jokes and laughed about my exiting the military. They laughed about me having no prospects for employment, and they sentenced my future to be as one receiving public assistance and eventually finding myself back in an Army uniform after my dreams had crashed. Nevertheless, they were wrong.

They were wrong for two reasons. One, I never had any doubt or apprehension concerning my decision to get out of the military;…and two, I did not set out to prove them wrong and to prove to them I could make it without big Uncle Sam watching over my shoulder. Sometimes, a joke can be a cover for how someone truly feels about you and the decision you are making with your life. With today’s cell phone technology, you can text a joke to a person about him or herself, and then put LOL on the end; and they may not ever catch the person’s true intent.

When a person makes every attempt to bring you down, it is because they are already beneath you. So, don’t get mad, get glad…because at least you have something for them to joke about. How else can they laugh? Their life is so miserable they need something to laugh about just to keep from crying.

Do you know what you want to do? You should never try to figure out who you are—you should be settled on that. A bird doesn’t try to be a cow and a horse doesn’t attempt to act like a dog. Their internal instincts cause them to habitually be what they are, just as your internal instincts should stir you into who you are. The problem that exists with human beings is most people are only interested in changing who they are to be accepted by their critics.

At the end of the day, be solidified on who you are and not on what others want you to be. Don’t lose sight of your personal desires just because someone does not want to see you succeed. Below are four steps for moving on when the voice of your critics seems to get louder each minute.

1. Don’t respond to your critics.
You know you are paying too much when you are paying attention to your critics.

2. Don’t give up on your dream.
You can stop your day job, but don’t stop your day-dream.

3. Don’t stop your perseverance.
Usually a person discontinues in their perseverance when they anticipate a problem before there is one.

4. Give no credence to how many times you didn’t succeed.
Instead of looking at one failure after another, you should have amnesia after each failure. You can survive by forgetting.

These four basic steps are all that is needed when you are pursuing your goal. Remember it takes little effort to bend over and pick up the fruit that has fallen from a tree, which in most cases, is already rotten. However, it takes pushing, believing, creativity, and stretching to get the best fruit from the top of the tree, which is usually the juiciest. Do you want to bend over for the rotten things in life which are the leftovers no one wants, or are you willing to fight for the best things in life which only a few ever strive to attain?

When you apply these four steps as you engage a non-constructive critic, you will eventually end up winning after losing their bad advice.

The Ethics of Business

business-ethics200Do the ethics people apply to running their business interrelate with how they manage their lives?

Before I answer this question concerning ethics and business, allow me to point out one important piece of information about business or owning a business. The word business does not strictly relate to transacting commerce, though it does not exclude commerce or capital. Business in its basic meaning is a set of tasks or important things that somebody has to do or deal with, and/or personal responsibilities and concerns. As such, business can relate to owning and running your own company, as much as it does with managing the affairs of a family.

Ethics is a system of moral standards or principles which are the filters whereby people manage their conduct. Therefore, everything a person does is expressed through a moral consciousness of what is good, bad, or indifferent. I think this is important to know so when the readers answer this question, they do not answer from the standpoint of the 11.2 percent of the United States population, who own and run their own businesses as though they can leave themselves out of the equation.

Now, the question asked at the beginning of this article was, ‘Do the ethics people apply to running their business interrelate with how they manage their lives?’

To answer this question correctly, I will first give some insight. There are three important components which epitomize your life. They are uniquely interrelated and cannot be separated when employed. In fact, they harmonize and are inseparable like water and wet, or words and meanings. Neither of these can be executed or expressed without the other. The three components I’m referring to are time, energy, and money. These balance or set off the totality of a person’s life. And, may I include; ethics has everything to do with this powerful quintessential of life.

Time is not life, but life is comprised of it. Energy is not life; however, life cannot be sustained without it. Money is not life, but it is the bartering tool you exchange facets of your life for. What exactly do you mean Dr. Brown? Your present life is the computation of time indicated by seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years. In fact, without time, human life, with the inclusion of all vegetation and other living organisms, would cease in this world because life is time.

Energy is vital for life because life is energy. From molecules to atoms and sub-atoms, all are intercreative and synergistically designed to support and sustain the ecosystem and natural balance of life. Therefore, your life is your strength and energy. Without energy, organisms cannot exist on planet Earth.

The last portion of my explanation may be initially confusing because you may think, ‘What does money have to do with life?’ Let me ease your mind, I am not suggesting your life cannot exist without money; however, in this world money is the result and representation of your time and energy.

When you have a job, it’s not just for show, but it determines the lifestyle you decide to live. Ethics helps you to properly manage your money. I believe strongly that the ethics you live your life by are the standards in which you truly govern your life. Although money helps you to govern your lifestyle, it also translates to how you perform in business and the business of your family.

So to the question “Do the ethics people apply to running their business interrelate with how they manage their lives?” my answer is…the answer is in the question.

Navigating Your Way to Wealth

Since we are living in such unpredictable and complicated times, it is vital that people have a sense about how to navigate their way to success. Learning to dictate the direction your life is going to take during uncertainty in our economy and instability in our government is vital in maintaining mental focus and structure. Control, with a sense of calmness is the key component to avoid panic and frustration that occur while battling the giants of discouragement and mental bankruptcy.

While many of Americans are seemingly drowning in an ocean of despondency, many people are looking for rafters to float on instead of swimming to the shores of safety. Since times are turbulent and unpredictable, it is time to make a conscious decision to predict the direction of the shaking to balance your thoughts and actions. In other words, like a surfer, you must balance and navigate yourself on the waves of financial turmoil and turn the ride into a profitable and exciting one.

You and I cannot do much about the financial mess our country has settled into. However, we can do something amazingly incredible, which can strengthen our resolve against possibly yielding to and being negatively affected by the fear that blankets this era. We can create opportunities to first develop a pattern for success and then teach others how to succeed with our proven method.

There is no greater story that can illustrate what I am writing about than the story of Harriet Tubman. She was a black female slave that lived during one of the darkest periods of American history. She was born in 1820 during a time when America was becoming increasingly divided on the issue of slavery. These were horrible times for slaves and hundreds of thousands of slaves were horribly mistreated and demeaned as human beings. Especially when slaves would be caught after trying to escape, their punishment was worst any domestic animal would ever be treated by a human being. Harriet Tubman watched her brother attempt his escape from slavery three times and all three times, he would be recaptured and brought back to the plantation. Even though her brother could never escape to freedom, it did not detour her from properly planning and navigating her own escape.

Harriet Tubman, self-emancipated slave fled from Maryland to freedom in Philadelphia in 1849 along the secret route to freedom known as the Underground Railroad in which she became the conductor. For the next 10 years after her successful escape, she made repeated secret trips back to Maryland and other slave states, leading over 300 escaped slaves, (including her brother who could never succeed on his own), north to freedom in Canada. Even though her husband, who was a free slave, had threatened to inform her master of her attempt to escape, she went triumphantly through the night believing she would succeed.

How could this uneducated black female slave accomplish such a task during a time there was a bounty on her head for more than forty thousand dollars which was a lot of money in those days? Was she completely oblivious to the dangers of her travel and the almost insurmountable obstacles that stood in her path? The answer is an emphatic no! Harriet Tubman knew of the repercussions if she were caught and completely aware of the dangers and possible spies deployed to catch her. However, she ignored them all and diligently fled to freedom.

Like Harriet Tubman, you too can navigate your way through the darkest of night, the rough terrain of high unemployment, and the uncertainty of our economy and yet succeed. Hard times does not keep you from success, it just creates greater challenges to success. In order to navigate through tough times emotionally, spiritually, and financially you must become tougher than the present time. Maintain your focus and sobriety and do not allow yourself to become drunk on the eve of reconstruction. You can navigate your way out of debt and into wealth. Stay in control of your actions and your actions will cause favorable circumstances that will not leave you barren or unproductive despite the times.
