Control Your Environment for Success

Control Environment MB TextHave you ever felt a sense of hopelessness about a situation in your life or felt completely powerless to change your circumstances? Well, welcome to the club! Anybody who has ever thought of attempting anything worthwhile, has at some time in their life, looked up at a huge mountain of things to do, which seemed beyond their reach to complete. This viewpoint leads many people to never set goals, for fear they will not score.

People often approach me with the thought of starting a business, but they are quickly discouraged when they discover the amount of paperwork which must be completed, or the funds which are necessary to begin. Having a desire to start a business or to author a book is not motivation enough to propel a person to not only start, but also complete the endeavor.

Government agencies encourage people to pursue government funds which are offered to serious people. Bureaucratic red tape is a deterrent only to those who are not serious enough to pursue much-needed assistance, which may be offered to the general public through start-up business grants or low interest loans. As a result, their dreams will usually come to a squelching halt because they did not take into account how laborious and painstaking it is to start a business.

Listen to me! You do not have to be dissuaded or shoved around like some rag-doll by fear. You can discover the power to stand up to the bully of success, which is fear, and never feel powerless again. Feeling powerless and being powerless are two different positions, and feeling powerless does not make it so. The impediment standing between you and starting your dream endeavor, is not the lack of knowledge or money; it is simply the apprehension that it may be too hard or too much of a price to pay. Therefore, failure is the mental image which must be changed before you will ever believe you can set your dream in motion.

People have gone to great lengths to protect their emotion of fear so that in the eyes of relatives, friends, and associates, their personal image is not tainted. They want people to see them as powerful and daring. Therefore, they lie and shield their fears with anecdotes and excuses to direct the focus away from them. In truth, they are frightened of challenges and they have chosen to sit back in the comfort of mediocrity. Don’t look to manage your fears, learn how to cripple them before they cripple you.

People do not drown because they cannot swim; they drown because they believe they cannot swim. If a person drowns, it is because they panic and fight the water until they are completely exhausted. Afterwards, their bodies float to the top. You do not have to drown in order to float on top of water, you can simply decide to relax (be at ease) and you will find yourself floating. When people lose the fear of something, they can learn to master it; but as long as fear dominates a person, the thing they are fearful of will dominate them.

I would like to think that I am interested in wanting the best for people I love and mentor, especially those I am intimately engaged with on a daily and weekly basis. However, my nurturing image of what many of them can become, and the things I believe they are capable of accomplishing is oftentimes in conflict with where they have chosen to settle instead of pursuing their highest aspirations.

Stop living in fear and start fearlessly living. Life is short and filled with frustrations, disappointments, and failures. On the other hand, life is inundated with contentment, pleasures, and fulfillment. Failure and disappointment do not define you; they are designed to refine you.

My friend, it is how you see it. Frustrations can become advantageous, disappointments can become fulfilled appointments, and failure can be replaced with success. The choice is yours! Choose today, how you are going to live the rest of your life. Remember, how you live tomorrow is determined by the things you do today. Decision Determines Destiny!

What is Your Time Worth

MB 7-21-15 TextCan time make you rich or poor? I want you to think for a moment, and ponder on this question. Are you spending your time learning and planning to die or are you using your time learning and planning to live?

I am impressed with the urgency to do. Action is a unique word that I love to see in motion because I become thrilled by the prospect of its results. I am not impressed with just knowing something; it just isn’t enough for me. However, the application of knowledge is captivating. To be willing is not enough; I believe we must be more than willing, we must do. If people will govern the time they have to accomplish the things they truly desire for their future, they will have more time in their future to live the life they really want to live.

It is a well-known fact that people of accomplishment rarely sit back and let things happen to them. This is because they do the inside work first, something transpires within them which causes them go out and generate things to happen for them. All that occurs with passive time, are the things you don’t want to happen.

Children spend most of their time growing and learning as the world opens daily to their senses. Young people spend time searching for ways to live and enjoy life. Aging people usually stop growing and learning, and have little to no interest in searching for ways to live life, because they’ve decided the only thing remaining for the aging is to sit and wait for time to close their eyes forever. When time is spent, eternity begins. Waiting is procrastination stealing your time away. No matter how old you are, time is available to use wisely.

Living with purpose is the act of living on purpose. In other words, you have a reason to get up every morning with the anticipation that something good awaits you. You view your alarm clock as your opportunity clock alerting you of the time you have for that day. Time stays long enough for anyone who will use it. If you spend too much time thinking about doing something, you will actually end up wasting the precious time you have to do it. Most people spend more time and energy going around problems than they do trying to solve them. Life becomes more challenging when you are actually engaged in the effort, and not primarily with the results.

Don’t let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. Believe you me, when your time used wisely converts to dollars and fulfillment, it becomes worth it for you. When you value your time, you will do something with it. You will not allow others to steal it from you, nor will you give it away to undeserving people who don’t value their own time.

Think about this for a moment; your time is your life. Time is nothing but years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds gifted-wrapped as a precious present given to humanity, and it’s called life. The only difference with this gift is that it is not a surprise you know exactly what’s inside. The only issue which can possibly exist is your ignorance of knowing what to do with it. There is nothing that cannot happen today in the allotted time you have.

We all have dreams. But in order to turn dreams into reality we need to turn time into effort. Your life and dreams are like a garden which requires patient labor and attention. Plants do not grow merely to satisfy ambitions or to fulfill good intentions, they thrive because someone took the time to expend the necessary effort on them.

The Balance of Success

MB Text 7-12-2015 (Balance Success)Faith is the power link to every seeable impossible desirable endeavor you may encounter. If balance is the key to life, then, faith is the power of life, and patience is the virtue of life. It is quite easy to talk about how one’s life needs balance; but how to achieve it has escaped the majority of people.

Achieving balance can be difficult because it involves knowledge, wisdom, tenacity, and action, and some people may lack adequacy in one or more of these qualities. In your Bible, the book of James says that we must not be hearers of the word only, but also doers of the word. This is where the problem comes into the equation. Most people are good at hearing to a degree, but lousy at doing. Balance, then, is formed out of sound and unbiased advice and guidance from a creditable source, and then immediately made actionable.

Faith is the power of life because it produces the ability to be tenacious. Power is power; it has no alternative to its strength and supremacy. Faith rests in its own pool of authority, and it is the force behind every movement and action. Patience is the virtue of life. It is the quality of character and the strategy to winning. Patience is needed in order to qualify the balance in one’s life, or else everything will be done in life without forethought and purpose.

Since most people are good at hearing instructions but terrible when it comes to follow through, failure is frequently inevitable. Balance is not leveling every quality off to the same degree; it is placing the importance on each quality regardless of its magnitude. When balance is achieved, it looks like the display on an equalizer component. Therefore, perfect harmony is realized because balance has been accomplished. This kind of action results not only in life becoming manageable, but also in success as being practical. There is nothing more attractive to God than a breathing faith.

Your life is at its finest when you become entrenched and completely invested in the effort but unattached from the results. I realized how difficult this can be, but it’s possible. This is the place where you are intimate with your personal power because you realize that the expedition and the exertion are important. There is a place you arrive where you must draw a line in the sand and let go of that something which has to lead you to a new position, or to a certain person loving you, or it has to lead to you making a lot of money. When your desires are discombobulated or targeted towards you feeling better about yourself, you actually become disempowered by making the goal the consummate.

I believe the goal has to do with the process itself. In reality, the end is inherited in the means. Who you are when you put forth the effort is more important than what you want to become at the end of your effort. If you are totally convinced you have nothing left in you after your effort, how can you not be content with the outcome?

Understanding the balance to success is not winning every battle or achieving every goal. It is what knowledge you are to acquire, or what skill you are to develop, or what corrections you are to make from each skirmish or attempt at something, regardless of the outcome, so that you are more prepared for the next endeavor.

Put Your Mind On Your Money

MB blog_textSome people excel with money and some don’t – Which One Are You? Are you embarrassed by your money skills? If you are sick and tired of doing money the old way—read this! If you need to increase your income, let’s start by discovering how much money you already have with your present income by discovering how not to make your debtors richer.

“I believe that the power to make money is a gift from God.”
~John D. Rockerfeller

Most people have it all wrong about money in America. Money is the one common thread that ties all the nations of the world together. Poverty is the perversion of prosperity, and the parody of financial freedom is debt. A dollar saved is a value, a dollar invested produces increase. What money comes in today will always reflect what went out yesterday.

The art of creating wealth works in the reverse of how one creates debt. The improper use of money creates debt. Debt is the result of what you cannot afford. Wealth is the result of the appropriate management of money. People have it all wrong, a person doesn’t have to possess a lot of money to create wealth—it is having the knowledge and using it, which causes your money to work to produce wealth for you.

Can You Handle the Truth? Most people aren’t enthusiastic about hearing the truth, especially when it challenges their self-imposed inadequacies. These people concoct fantasies in their mind to substantiate their defects. Now of course, the stories are not true, but they are stories they can believe, which shift the blame of underperforming from themselves to some other person or condition.

Henry Ford once said, “The man that believes he can and the man who believes he can’t are both right.” Most people have had money problems and most people do not give up on life, they continue to march on until they can either find a solution or make up another story. These concocted stories become the reasons or excuses for the lack of passion, which is in my opinion, sheer fear. There is no easier lie to believe than the one that places the blame on God.

You must initially see that debt and financial struggles (poverty) go hand in hand. Please understand that my aim is not to humiliate or beat you down if you find yourself in this predicament, I simply want to give to you a simple plan to better equip yourself and your family to be financially secure. This doesn’t mean you’re going to become a millionaire over night, but you can be en route to fulfilling your dreams and having more money, even if it is not a million dollars in your bank account.

They say that money isn’t everything, and that’s true—but look at how many things it is. In our society, money is everything. For Americans, it is how we keep score. A man’s treatment of money is the most decisive test of his character—how he makes it and how he spends it. Money doesn’t change a person; it simply exposes him or her for who they already are. If money makes you feel better about yourself, then you neither understand yourself nor the reason for creating wealth.

The Bible says, “…For the love of money is the root of all evil.” This verse is often misquoted—it doesn’t say that money is evil. The personal secular methods that help a man acquire a fortune are the very ones that can keep him from enjoying it. Money itself is not evil, nor is it good. Both good and evil can be done with money. The old maxim is, “Money may not bring happiness…”, but I say, “Neither will poverty.”

When a man respects the potential of money and learns to control its influence, he becomes a wise man. Are you a good money manager? Yes you are! All most people need is a little motivation and a little help, and they are on their way to being a blessing to family, church, and to others.

In just three to six months, you can free up some of your cash which can go towards other bills if, you can believe it. The basic requirement needed for debt reduction is for you to “Start.” Learn and apply the spiritual principle of giving. I have heard people say, “But I don’t know where to begin.” My answer is simple. How did you start getting into debt? You started collecting credit cards and systematically using them. Reverse the process. Start with plastic surgery by cutting up your credit cards, then collect and arrange your bills and pay them systematically.

Do not be afraid to examine how you got into your financial mess. Retrace your steps and you will end up where you started—debt free.

The Part Faith Plays In Life And Business

121414-blog-postIf luck is a major factor in life and business success, then effort and developing an unbreakable work habit is a waste of time and energy.

Are you unconsciously sabotaging your own success because somewhere in your subconscious you believe there are people who have had a little extra gold dust sprinkled on them than you have? If this is the case, a person with expectations to enter the world of business might as well just get ready to roll the dice or spend the roulette wheel. In either case, according to some rich celebrities, you’ll be lucky just to have some luck.

I don’t believe in luck; however, I do believe in faith. I strongly believe faith in life and business plays a vital part of any accomplishment. Whether success comes from installing a competent team of people around you or studying the trends and buying habits of groups in your region—success is neither chance nor unintentional. And, we who are successful owe it to our protégés and followers, to present them with the hard true facts that life doesn’t happen without their input.

The days of sitting on the sidelines hoping to have some success without applying your head with your heart are over. It’s tougher than ever before to experience phenomenal success. However, success without the ‘phenomenal’ attached to it is relativity easy; but I must warn you that some elbow grease is required. Faith is necessary in life, luck isn’t. Chance is nothing but prior mental training and developed life patterns, which creates for a person the propensity to make decisions, which place them in a place they call good luck or bad luck. In actuality, it wasn’t good luck or bad luck at all, but rather a well developed mental profile which created life’s trends.

Faith is a powerful force. Life cannot exist without faith. It doesn’t take luck to build a skyscraper; it requires knowledge and belief in one’s own dream that enables building a towering skyscraper to be possible. Imagine seeing acreages of undeveloped land with your natural eyes. However, you look again and you see houses, communities, businesses, etc. Are you seeing this with your natural vision, or are you seeing it with what some may call ‘your mind’s eye?’

Take a moment, use your imagination and think of yourself as an architect. An architect is anybody who designs, invents, creates, or engineers anything from buildings to computers, from music to business concepts, and from communications to weapons of war. From whence did their creativity emerge to produce such brilliant products and services? It came from their hearts and their faith to turn their dreams into the material of reality.

You are a prime mover. You were created to be that way, but somewhere along life’s process, you were unintentionally programmed by parents, teachers, ministers, and friends who told you all you can be in life is some cheap copy of someone’s great original. Therefore, people are always thinking of duplication. However, someone had to originally come up with the first idea. I’m not saying that you can’t take someone’s product or services and improve it. What I am suggesting to you is why not produce what God placed in you? There will never be a person on this planet like you, that makes it unequivocally clear that you are an original. If this is true, which I believe it is, you have residing in you exactly what you are; original ideas.

Now listen, faith doesn’t make life or business easy; it makes them possible. Have faith in the Architect of architects. You were created after His likeness and His similitude and He is fully aware of your capabilities, but are you! Stop trying to produce for your life what you see in the life of others. Your life is unique and so are your ideas. God gave you life, but you made your life what it is. If you continue to pursue someone else’s dream as your own, you will also encounter the problems they have encountered to get where they are.

You cannot live Richard Branson’s dream, but you can live yours. Ask the Architect to give you clarity of your dreams, purpose and destiny; and I’m certain He will make it plain to you.

LIVE BY FAITH NOT BY LUCK!

How To Make A Monster First Impression

08-10-14-blog-postHumans are creatures of habits, and unfortunately many of these habits are undetectable and often unintentional. How many times have you been informed not to judge a book by its cover, only to feel helpless in trying to prevent such a prejudgment? In a nutshell, prejudice is actually judging the contents of the book by reviewing the cover.

There is a difference between judgment and prejudice. A judgment is the process of forming an opinion or making a decision that is based on careful thought and consideration. However, prejudice is an unfair preconceived adverse opinion or inclination formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge is acquired, which breeds feelings of an irrational attitude or a hostility of dislike directed toward a person or group because of physical appearance, race, religion, association, etc.

When going into an interview and/or meeting someone for the first time, it is important to remember that you most likely have the same bad habits of judging people before ever getting to know them. So, think of the fact that people have a propensity to make snap judgments, and they make them incredibly fast and find them difficult to change.

First impressions are from 100 milliseconds to three seconds max, and this initial impression has a tendency to cling to the cerebral cortex of the brain. This is the outer layer of the frontal parts of the brains cerebral hemispheres. Its functions include the perception of sensations, learning, reasoning, and memory. In other words, first impressions are extremely sticky. First impressions are like mud thrown against a white wall—it may not always stick to the wall, but it will leave a stain.

Imagine wearing the hat of a job interviewer and meeting Frankenstein for the first time coming in for a job interview. Your company is hiring for a Head Security position, but the criteria for the position is vague and not written out well. Your secretary feels slightly intimidated by the size and appearance of Frankenstein standing in front of her as she calls you on the intercom to let you know your next interview is ready. You ask your secretary about any additional forms Frankenstein may have brought to the interview. You slightly whisper, “How does he look?” She sounds vague because he’s standing in front of her. She replies, Sir, can I bring him in now?” Your reply is “Yes bring him in.” Well, as your secretary opens your office door, you rise to greet your interviewee and you find yourself having to fight to keep from starring at him, even though you know you are to look him in the eyes. In this case, the interviewer has nothing to be concerned about, but the interviewee does.

How do you properly and aptly make a good, or if possible, a great impression when meeting a person of the opposite sex, a new business contact or a job interviewer? Think of this, can Frankenstein reduce his height? Can he change how big his hands or feet are? Is he able to remove the electrical receptacles on his neck? No, he cannot change any of those physical attributes; but, he can accept who he is and strongly believe in what he is capable of doing. With this belief firmly set in his mind and heart, he will be able to address any person without any intrinsic apprehensions about his physicality.

Apply these few tips and advice I’m offering Frankenstein who is looking to improve his initial impression on the interviewer. These few suggestions apply to practically anyone, and just about any situation. Here are a few of my personal, yet professional insights:

1. Don’t ignore the elephant in the room.

You are the elephant and you should be completely aware, by now, of some of the misgivings people have when they initially meet you. Usually people won’t initially see you the way you see yourself. So, you should always have an opening line when people notice the obvious about you. For instance: I recall meeting a young man who was about 6’8 and of a slender build. I immediately asked him the obvious question, “Do you play basketball?” “That’s often a misconception people have about me,” he said with a smile. His reply for a young man was not only comical but it relieved my own apprehension.

Frankenstein doesn’t have to make a circus out of his physicality, but he should be secure enough about himself to realize he has an advantage interviewing for a Head Security position. Once the initial 3 seconds have passed, opening his mouth to articulate his intelligence about the position would usually be what will cause the interviewer’s perception to immediately change to a more favorable consideration.

By Frankenstein presenting his initial line with a smile, and intelligently answering the interviewer’s questions by articulating his thoughts concerning his capabilities, and how he can help organize security for the company, will usually works to diffuse any apprehensions the interviewer might have. The interviewer will feel comfortable, relax his walls of pre-judgment, and most likely, select Frankenstein for the Head Security position.

2. Let them talk first but you should always have the last word.

Frankenstein should turn off all impulses to speak about his abilities and accomplishments until asked. Even when he is asked about his skills, he should have a mentally prepared way of communicating what his skills are without going into a long dissertation. You want the interviewer to trust you, so help them to trust that you are a good listener. The interviewer should always be given the floor by the interviewee.

When the interviewer is practically done with his series of questions, the interviewer will usually ask if you have any questions. Frankenstein should always have a question, even if he feels most of his concerns were answered. A question shows your interest in the position and your willingness to learn more about the company’s agenda. Your last words before exiting the interviewer’s office should demonstrate a kind gesture of thanks and appreciation. One quick note: make sure your eye contact is subtle not a wide-eyed staring which can cause the interviewer to feel uncomfortable.

3. Become a chameleon.

Maintain the speed of the interviewer when communicating. If the interviewer speaks slowly, slow your speech down slightly to match the speech pattern of the interviewer. If the interviewer speaks with a sense of energy, put some oomph in your talk. If the interviewer speaks a little fast, try speaking a little faster than your norm, but not so fast that you’re tripping over your words.

People like people who are like themselves. When they are excited, you display excitement, when they seem melancholy, you become sympathetic but uplifting. You’ll be surprised how slightly mimicking a person in an initial meeting will cause them to feel quite comfortable around you. You never, however, want to appear as if you are competing or that you are a threat to their position. Pay attention to those ‘ums’ and ‘ahs’ when you are speaking, as they are usually fillers when you are reaching for words. These two little fillers can cause you to sound uninformed or as if you are making something up. Stay a notch lower than the interviewer so that after the interview they can’t wait to speak to everyone about their interview with you. Before you know it, everyone in the company will be looking forward to meeting you…though you haven’t yet been notified that you have the job.

My advice to Frankenstein is not at all condescending but simple and serving in nature: Who can forget a monster with wit, intelligence, and a sense of humor?

The Intrinsic Quality of the Successful

iqs-200-postIf you are waiting for someone to substantiate that you are a success, you are waiting for the wrong information. If you are looking around to see the symbols of your success to validate whether or not you are a success, you are looking at the wrong things.

Internal success far outweighs external success. Knowing who you are and living a life of fulfillment is far more valuable than all the money in the world. In fact, having a powerful sense of self-awareness, and an intuitive knowledge of who you truly are without the need of outside influences to help you secure your mental sense of self-worth, is a priceless commodity.

I am not saying wealth and material things are not important, because that would not be true. On the contrary, money and material things are an absolute necessity if one is going to survive in this world. Riches may not bring permanent happiness, but neither will poverty. I have seen wealthy people miserable and unhappy, though they possess all the money and material things a person can dream of having. I have also seen people living with just the bare basic necessities of life, and they are just as miserable and unhappy as the person with everything.

Therefore, money and material things are not the true symbols of success. The Good Book says that a person who cannot rule their own soul is like a city without walls. This means that the person’s life and all they may have built throughout their lifetime is completely vulnerable and open to assaults. These people usually end up losing everything because they most likely have stepped on (not over) many friends and associates just to get what they thought would validate them in the eyes of people. A person succeeding in making money is not an indicator that the person has succeeded with controlling their insatiable appetites of lasciviousness.

Your self-image is a product of your experiences, failures, triumphs, humiliations, and breakthroughs. Through these experiences, you create a picture of yourself and most importantly, you believe that it is a true depiction of who you are. Because you believe your self-image is accurate, you base your actions on it. If your actions lead to failure or success, your self-image is then is responsible. There is a reason why willpower does not work, and why it is like a snap-back effect. Your “will” is powered by something other than you simply making a decision to do something. Your mind controls your body, but your will controls your mind.

When people use willpower, what they are actually doing is going to battle against their self-image. However, the self-image is always stronger because it is their subconscious belief. To further explain my point, I want you to view yourself as a rubber band. When you stretch the rubber band, it is similar to your willpower. If you think you can go around for a full day as a fully stretched out rubber band, you are sadly mistaken. At some point during the course of the day, something will distract you—and you will let up on the pressure. When that happens, the rubber band snaps back to its true shape. This is what happens when you use your will power to mentally change what you think about yourself without you changing your intrinsic core belief of who you are. Woody Allen said, “My only regret is that I’m not someone else.”

What a sad way of thinking about yourself. You can make all the money your little heart desires, but you better know why you are trying to make money, because money itself will not be the remedy to your lack of fulfillment. This is one of the reasons why so many people experience the yo-yo effect. The will is designed to do what it does, but it does not make you who you are. If you learn to re-engineer your self-image based on a God-consciousness, you will permanently expand it, and there will be no more snap-back effect.

A neighbor was befriending a child in the neighborhood.
“I understand that you have twins in your home. Are you one of them?”
The boy slowly put his head down and said, “No sir! I’m just a spare.”

Once you learn how to activate and release God’s power in every situation, you will find yourself moving beyond obstacles that previously frustrated you. You will actually develop an unstoppable God (self)-confidence and a heightened excitement about your future. Like most people, your will is to be successful, but it does not mean because your will is for success, that you will obtain it. You have to go further than just to will it; you have to believe it so that no approval would be necessary to make your life work. There is no doubt in my mind that if you are a success; the only thing I must do is to believe that you are.

Now, let me re-address the subject of money. It’s right to make money and even ethically there is nothing wrong with making a lot of money. Money may not grow on trees, but it does grow from talent and knowledge. Concentration, Creativity, and Negotiation are three important elements of having a successful business. The ability to take an idea, analyze business opportunities, and evaluate business options is a major attribute use. When your heart is balanced, it takes a conscientious effort to ensure that your mind coincides with your heart.

Wisdom For A Better Life

wisdom-life-250Knowledge is not nearly as important as wisdom. In fact, wisdom can use knowledge, but knowledge cannot use wisdom. Those who believe that knowledge is just as important as wisdom usually like to collect information, which may make a person smarter, but not necessarily wise. You see, to know something would be like knowing nothing if you don’t know how to apply what you know.

The Discovery of Your Life’s Primary Purpose

Primary PurposeIs it too late for me to discover my life’s true purpose?

There are two primary reasons why I believe most people live their entire lives in the dark concerning their true purpose. Oftentimes, these reasons compel them to go on a futile search. There is no chance of finding what they are looking for while they are under their old mental regime. Not only are many of these people making constant blunders with their lives, but they find themselves always moving from one job to another or from marriage to marriage because their inward compass is out of balance. Life for these people is one big earthly laboratory experiment, and they seem to be the guinea pig.

One reason a person is unable to discover their true purpose is that they mistaken what they like to do for their primary purpose, when in fact it is their sub-purpose in life. The second reason is similar to the first, they are unwilling to give up searching among places, peoples, and religions believing that these entities are the most likely places one can find his or her purpose.

Bruce Lee, one of the greatest martial artists that ever lived was once asked by a master martial artist to teach him everything he knew about the martial arts. Bruce Lee held up two cups, both filled with liquid and said, “The first cup represents all your knowledge about the martial arts, and the second cup represents all my knowledge about the martial arts. If you want to fill your cup with all of my knowledge about the martial arts, you must first empty your cup of your knowledge of the martial arts.”

Perhaps, you may not understand the cost of self-discovery. However, one thing for certain is, it will come at a price of surrendering all the knowledge you once deemed necessary, even though these experiences made you who you are today. If you want to learn about what your true primary purpose is in life, you must empty yourself of all the false purposes you’ve been taught. This includes the idea that you have no purpose at all.

You cannot be yourself until you know yourself. So, while you are in search of the ‘who’ and the ‘why’ of your being, life is in constant transition. I know how it feels to harbor thoughts of wanting to do one hundred different things to define your purpose, but you just can’t seem to come across the one simple thing you want to do more than anything in the world. Sometimes, the mental block exists because self-knowledge can be painful and we prefer the gratification of an illusion. If most of us remain ignorant of ourselves, it is because we want to.

Can I help you? The low road to take is to simply ignore any intuition that life holds for you more than just a job and a family. The high peak of knowledge is perfect self-knowledge, that you believe you are not a mistake, and that you are wonderfully and uniquely created by your Creator for His purpose. God never creates mistakes, we are simply mistaken. There is no self-definition without God-recognition. To know God is to have a revelation of God. It may display wisdom to know others, but it is enlightenment to know one’s self.

I want you to do something that you might consider quite odd. I’m asking you to do one exercise that can probably help you easily discover your purpose in life. It is important that you understand that despite the games played with others, we must not play games with ourselves. We only get one try at life, and there is actually no room for error. Experiments are too costly and it is an ongoing expense. So, if your life and future seem dark, get some white paint and brighten it up. This is a good place to start.

My suggestion to you is to get a blank sheet of white paper and write as the header, “My Life’s Purpose.” Underneath the header start to write a list of things that matters most to you about what you believe your purpose is. Don’t over-think, just start listing things. The one that makes you happy is a substitute, but the one that breaks you down and reveals your compassion is most likely to be your purpose.

Your life is a novel, but your purpose is a novelty. A novel is a fictional prose work with a relatively long and often complex plot, usually divided into chapters or episodes, in which the story traditionally develops through the thoughts and actions of its character(s). However, when you consider a novelty, it is something new, original, and different that is interesting or exciting, though often for only a short time which no other person will have the same privilege of assignment.

Life holds purpose and it should be touched to release its meaning, not strangled until you kill it. Life is supposed to work fluently, despite the bumps and turns, highs and lows; for these are all a part of life’s obstacle course. Therefore, when your purpose is discovered, its treasure is worth more than life itself.
