Breaking The Cycle of Average

Breaking the cycle of average textHere is a line from the movie Sister Act II, starring Whoopi Goldberg, which served as a motivation for me to thrive in life; “If you want to be somebody, and you want go somewhere… you better wake up and pay attention.”

There is a very large class of people in society that you want to stay as far away from their influence as possible unless you want to be a part of them. Whether you heard of this group or not, the most important thing about this group is that you do not want to be a part of it. People in this group are not necessarily bad people, but if anyone from this group has your undivided attention, they may be a deterrent to your progress. This consortium of people is commonly known as ‘The Average 90.’ This is a group of people who may be stuck in a box without any desire or passion to break out of it. They avoid risk, abandon conflict, and run from any challenge that requires more than a mediocre effort.

Are you the kind of person who will give that little extra to achieve more than what the average person can accomplish? Average people live in the shadow of excellence—always admiring the achievements of others who are not as gifted, but apparently more daring. You don’t have to be the smartest or strongest person to achieve greatness. Have you noticed that the cleverest people in school are usually not those who are the most successful or who leave their mark on life? If you want to be better than what you presently are, you must do things differently or better than others whose standard is ‘just enough to get by’.

Aim beyond what you think you are capable of achieving. Challenge yourself to develop a total disregard for where your abilities end, and turn enthusiasm into the energy that moves you beyond your fears. Your future depends on many things, but mostly on you. You might succeed if nobody else believes in you, but you will never succeed if you don’t believe in yourself.

The difference between the average 90 and the uncommon 10 is that the average 90 will wait for opportunities to be exposed, while the uncommon 10 will create them. It takes perseverance to break away from the mediocre and to do something other than what most people are willing to do, which is to get a job…a job that pays them below their skill level. However, this person’s mindset may just be minimum wage. Isn’t it ironic that a person can be so talented and gifted, but their personal drive is like the power of a gas operated scooter and not that of a Ferrari.

Have you ever been at a point in life when you wanted to give up, throw in the towel, and quit for the rest of your life? Remember as children, when we played baseball and we failed to catch the ball, or being embarrassed at school for liking someone who didn’t like you? How about when you felt you were the most qualified for a position on your job but you were passed over because you just blended in? All of these, and more, real-life scenarios have been used as the culprit for quitting, or becoming stagnated, where you no longer gave a hundred percent effort.

Life is about always moving forward, no matter what—it’s not becoming stagnated by some emotional letdown like a child having a temper tantrum when something doesn’t work out the way you planned it. Finding excuses for quitting at life or giving up on your dream will give most people immediate access to depression and anxiety, which oftentimes, leads to self-destruction. However, those who have a resolve in their heart realize that quitting is not an option. Disappointments, frustrations, and failures, are all a part of life. Unfortunately, we cannot always escape these life factors, because while we are learning how to live, we are also learning how to succeed at whatever is before us. These life lessons inevitably lead to mistakes. How you deal with your errors will either demonstrate your mental stability and your inner strength, or the lack thereof.

For life to work in its most simplistic form, a person must understand that it takes wisdom to fast forward, intelligence to pause, integrity of strength to play, but foolishness to go backwards. If you can wrap your head around these for components, which can help in some way to make sense out of life, then you just might discover that the purpose of life really does make a lot of sense. You were not designed to be average.

No one comes into this world and begins life counting backwards by years, months, weeks, and days. All of humanity is designed for forward mobility, and we start, not at one, but at start. A person cannot set goals for the days they’ve already lived; they can only set goals for days that have not yet been lived. This suggests that there is a Mastermind and Designer who created us to live forward, not to die in backward mode.

Do yourself a favor and rid your mind of mediocrity. Examine your efforts, challenge your strength and intelligence, and take the limits of being average and throw it as far away from you as possible. Refuse to accept what life throws at you, like most people do, and throw at life what direction you believe God has designed you to go.

I understand that it is your life to do with as you please; however, it is not your right to make other people feel guilty because they don’t want to live their lives alongside yours. It is difficult to follow a parked car. If you are not going anywhere in life and your movement is synchronized with those who are average, can you please move out of the way so others can get by you without the possibility of tripping over you? If you want to waste your time, why would I want to give you the opportunity of wasting mine?

To break away from the norm you have been traveling, you have to move through the crowd of people to create your own path. People of destiny will make life happen; average people will wait for life to happen.

Jesus said, “If they compel you to go one mile, go two.”

The Balance of Success

MB Text 7-12-2015 (Balance Success)Faith is the power link to every seeable impossible desirable endeavor you may encounter. If balance is the key to life, then, faith is the power of life, and patience is the virtue of life. It is quite easy to talk about how one’s life needs balance; but how to achieve it has escaped the majority of people.

Achieving balance can be difficult because it involves knowledge, wisdom, tenacity, and action, and some people may lack adequacy in one or more of these qualities. In your Bible, the book of James says that we must not be hearers of the word only, but also doers of the word. This is where the problem comes into the equation. Most people are good at hearing to a degree, but lousy at doing. Balance, then, is formed out of sound and unbiased advice and guidance from a creditable source, and then immediately made actionable.

Faith is the power of life because it produces the ability to be tenacious. Power is power; it has no alternative to its strength and supremacy. Faith rests in its own pool of authority, and it is the force behind every movement and action. Patience is the virtue of life. It is the quality of character and the strategy to winning. Patience is needed in order to qualify the balance in one’s life, or else everything will be done in life without forethought and purpose.

Since most people are good at hearing instructions but terrible when it comes to follow through, failure is frequently inevitable. Balance is not leveling every quality off to the same degree; it is placing the importance on each quality regardless of its magnitude. When balance is achieved, it looks like the display on an equalizer component. Therefore, perfect harmony is realized because balance has been accomplished. This kind of action results not only in life becoming manageable, but also in success as being practical. There is nothing more attractive to God than a breathing faith.

Your life is at its finest when you become entrenched and completely invested in the effort but unattached from the results. I realized how difficult this can be, but it’s possible. This is the place where you are intimate with your personal power because you realize that the expedition and the exertion are important. There is a place you arrive where you must draw a line in the sand and let go of that something which has to lead you to a new position, or to a certain person loving you, or it has to lead to you making a lot of money. When your desires are discombobulated or targeted towards you feeling better about yourself, you actually become disempowered by making the goal the consummate.

I believe the goal has to do with the process itself. In reality, the end is inherited in the means. Who you are when you put forth the effort is more important than what you want to become at the end of your effort. If you are totally convinced you have nothing left in you after your effort, how can you not be content with the outcome?

Understanding the balance to success is not winning every battle or achieving every goal. It is what knowledge you are to acquire, or what skill you are to develop, or what corrections you are to make from each skirmish or attempt at something, regardless of the outcome, so that you are more prepared for the next endeavor.

Avoiding Contradictions

contridictionsPeople who recognize me when I’m out and about usually like to stop me to ask a question or two about a concern of theirs. Typically the first thing to come out of their mouths is a brief resume on who they are and what they’ve done. Well, one young man was telling me about how he is going to start eating right and taking care of his body. He spoke about what another person told him about vegetables and the benefits of eating them on a daily basis. So, he said, “I’m killing myself with my bad eating habits.” Then he said, “I have to go outside and have a cigarette.”

Wisdom For A Better Life

wisdom-life-250Knowledge is not nearly as important as wisdom. In fact, wisdom can use knowledge, but knowledge cannot use wisdom. Those who believe that knowledge is just as important as wisdom usually like to collect information, which may make a person smarter, but not necessarily wise. You see, to know something would be like knowing nothing if you don’t know how to apply what you know.

Job, Career, or Entrepreneurship

Have you ever said, “I need more money”? Before you spend another dime read what I have to say about creating more money.

Before You Spend A Dime On More Gas to Deliver Pizza for Extra Income, Read what I Have to Say!

“I need more money, and the only way I know how to get it without stealing, is to get an extra job!” said Fred.

Worrying about Money
Money Worries

I know how frustrating it can be when you have more month at the end of your money than money at the end of your month. Oftentimes, people are confused and unbelieving when it comes to creating ways to increase their income without having to get a second job or receiving a hefty pay raise. I am not saying that an extra job is not a viable option; I am simply pointing to the fact that there are other alternatives to increase your income without the added stress load. Besides this, employers are not passing out huge pay raises to people except to their top executives. Let’s face it; working yourself to death is not the answer for increasing your income. And, even if you were successful at increasing your income by working extremely hard and or having two jobs, you probably will not be around long enough to enjoy it. There are two ways to increase your income.
  1. You chase money until you have caught up with it, which makes you work harder.
  2. You learn how to attract money and make it work for you, and work smarter.

You make the choice. Get a job or create one.

There is a powerful scripture in the Bible that can unequivocally be a booster for one’s self-confidence, if they can believe it. This verse has empowered me to create the kind of opportunities to multiply my earnings by producing streams of income. This Bible verse does not pacify the self-helpless person because it places the ball in the individual’s court to produce actionable results to improve one’s income. For me, this is a self-help verse.

Deut. 8:18 But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth… (NIV)

Hundreds of millions of people have subliminally placed making money as some special gift that only a few exclusive heavenly endowed people have. Therefore, the person who accepts this philosophy as being true has already viewed their nominal salary as the motive to insert them in the average and ungifted category. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Rather people believe in their intrinsic ability to make as much money as they want to or not; based on this Bible verse, every human being has the impregnable gifting and right to create or produce wealth.

Playing dumb is not going to better your situation, nor is sticking your head in the sand to avoid the obvious going to make your financial woes disappear. People who think that they have money problems are sadly mistaken; their actual problem is not money, it is the lack of information and belief in their God-given ability to create wealth. In order to stop this infectious supposition from permeating the next generation, I believe parents have a responsibility to instruct their children and embed the belief in their psyche of their inherent ability to make and manage money, so that when they become young adults they are already ahead of the money making curve.

I both challenge and desire to change the way millions of people around the world think about producing and increasing wealth. There are viewpoints that often contradict conventional wisdom, mine is one of them. The first step to income multiplication is to believe that income multiplication is possible. Go ahead and take the first step. Then the inevitable will come into view.

Legacy! What is Yours?

When the last chapter has been read and the book cover of your life closed, will most people feel as if they never had the opportunity to experience your full potential? Will they say that the wisdom gained throughout your life died along with you and therefore the next generation was not able to draw from your resources and years of experience? It is supposed to be that the philosophy and education of the previous generation serves as common sense for the next generation.

The good and bad experiences we have had in our generation are to help the next generation avoid the pitfalls of our time, while embracing the good experiences and improving upon them. Legacies are left behind so that others can experience the passion of the past.

I discovered that the richest place in the world is not the United States; it is not Saudi Arabia; and it certainly is not Holly Wood (Beverly Hills). The wealthiest place in the world is in the most unlikely proximity: the grave yard. More wealth is secured in a small six by three plot of land than the greatest oil producing countries in the world.

Once that wealth of knowledge and wisdom has been permanently stored away in the minds of the deceased, there is no way to unlock it. It is forever lost; and the next generation must suffer from the void of what they cannot realize is absent.

The greatest mentor of my life was a man I both revered and loved. His embracing me as a son unlocked in me more potential than I ever thought I had.

To this day, I am still experiencing the many-sided possibilities because a man, Dr. Turnel Nelson, emptied himself before he went on to be with the Lord. What a legacy! He would often say, “Don’t die full!”

The fruit that grows from the tree of your life experiences is to leave the seeds for those left behind to germinate. Growing older does not translate into stop growing and enjoying life. In fact, growing older suggests the opposite. The longer I am on this earth the more fruit I get to grow and the more seeds I get to drop for those following my example.

TWIT THIS!

World Shaper or Moneymaker

Are you an asset or a liability? Allow me to rephrase the question. Do those who know you consider you an asset or a liability? Have you grown in the last five years to gain more knowledge and wisdom to aid your church in reaching the community in order to grow or to help guide those who may need assistance in life or your employer who desires for his or her company to grow? Can you answer these questions without automatically assuming that you are an asset without actually examining your output? What good is your life if you are not doing something to help someone to live a better life?

I can view the daily activities in people’s lives and tell if they are world shapers or simply moneymakers. In other words, the moneymaker is only interested in building a career and making as much money by avoiding any personal contact that may hinder their chances of making a dollar.

On the other hand, a world shaper is someone who looks to be a blessing in the lives of others by committing themselves to wisdom and knowledge so that they can be properly equipped for the challenges others may face as well as themselves. Paul in the Bible said, “If we live only to ourselves we are men most miserable.”

People have lost a sense of purpose as to why they should do things. Money should not be the number one culprit for why you work, have a business, and or want to meet people. This, my friend, only indicates how shallow your life actually is.

I have dedicated my life to a life of service without the promise of making a lot of money. In fact, the proof of my servitude is in the price I pay daily. I do not look for the pats on the back or the nice gestures of thank you, but simply how can I do a better job the next time in being a blessing in someone’s life. This is not an indication that I should not be wealthy.

On the contrary, my life attracts wealth because I am dedicated to the lives of others. I do not serve money; I serve God and people. I strongly believe that a life of servitude cannot be measured in dollars and cents. The number one cause for people refusing to live out God’s determination for their lives is how much money they think they will lose in order to obey God. Jesus said, “Man cannot serve both God and money…” If you cannot give it, you do not own it, it owns you. Live a life of service to God and man and God will ensure that your life is filled with the true treasures that only He can provide.

The One Mistake that Most People Make

What type of lifestyle are you really interested in living? What do you want to accomplish with your finances, marriage, or business? Do you desire to live the lifestyle you have only dreamt; or are you only looking to win the lottery, which is your shortcut to success? Have you ever heard the old maxim, “If you continue to do the thing you’ve always done, you’ll continue to get what you’ve always got.” How do you help someone who knows what they are doing wrong?

Many of these people can tell you all of their shortcomings and give reasons to why they are not successful; but if they are aware of their problems why is there no strategic action to correct it? Are they looking for solutions to fall out of the sky?

I have worked with many could-be-millionaires down through the years and have learned that these people cannot tell you how to do what is right because their reference point is only failure, not success. They can figure out what is right to do; but these people usually have a difficult time trying to figure out how to do what is right. My heart goes out for many people who think like this because I really want to see them do well.

The remedy for helping them is that they must be willing to listen to sound advice from a qualified mentor and refuse to say, “I know!” When a person continues to voice what they would like to do, they are actually pointing to the realization that they do not have a clue as to how to do it. A person’s situation can change for the better if they will only stop talking about their problem and ask a qualified source for help. Silence is the key when wisdom is speaking.
